Dr. Taylor has more than twenty–five years success as an R&D Scientist and Materials Engineer in the conceptualization, design, and implementation of materials technology for new product applications. While working for Bell Laboratories as a senior scientist and technology manager for fiber optics and electronics businesses, he achieved business results in over fifty projects. Those results  yielded millions of dollars worth of cost savings and substantially increased sales due to improved product performance and reliability.

Dr. Taylor's multidisciplinary background allows him to take a unique systems approach to designing and selecting polymer and plastic materials for product applications. He clearly defines product performance requirements by the relevant materials properties necessary to achieve optimal product functionality and environmental reliability. He utilizes concurrent engineering methods to determine the synergistic interdependence of material interactions and compatibility, processing, thermal history, viscoelastic effects, and environmental-reliability requirements.  His systems approach focuses on optimal materials design and selection to achieve the best product functionality and reliability. In the case of materials related problems or failure in the product, he utilizes the same interdisciplinary methods to perform failure analysis and determine the underlying root cause(s). He offers practical solution options that can be implemented. He provides technical support as an expert witness in litigations.

He has demonstrated his technical abilities through 49 publications and is an innovative, creative, and analytical problem solver with 30 patents issued.

Dr. Taylor received his Bachelors degree from The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he studied polymers, polymer physical chemistry, and polymer engineering.

Since becoming Materials Technology Associates President, Dr. Taylor has developed a network of expert associates and laboratory capabilities that can provide the polymer and plastics engineering and technical support that companies need for their products.
